From Thursday, temperatures will rise, sometimes up to 30°C, from Paris to Marseille via Rennes. The episode is expected to last until Sunday.
Spring is still being desired, in this first half of April 2024. Some will perhaps be satisfied with an episode of great mildness which will begin this Thursday 11th April 2024.
As we see, a mass of hot air arrives in France on Thursday and will settle in for a few days:
Here is the temperature forecast for the next few days.
Episode starts Thursday
Temperatures will start to exceed 20°C on Thursday afternoon. Around 4 p.m., according to the European weather model ECMWF, it should be 21°C in Fréjus, 22°C in Montpellier… for the maximum. Further north, 17°C is forecast in Rennes and Paris, 16°C in Strasbourg… Some models, such as the German Icon, predict maximums of 24°C in the South-East.
This mildness will not necessarily be synonymous with sunny weather, especially in the northern half. Here is the forecast from Météo France this Tuesday for the afternoon of Thursday:
Up to 27°C Friday
On Friday, temperatures will rise again. The ECMWF model predicts up to 27°C in Narbonne, 24°C in Marseille, 22°C in Bordeaux, 21°C in Nantes and Paris, 20°C in Lyon… And the sky should be clearer than the day before.
Here is the forecast from Météo France this Tuesday for Friday afternoon:
More overcast Saturday
On Saturday, temperatures rise again. The ECMWF model announces 30°C in Narbonne, 28°C in Mont-de-Marsan, 27°C in Avignon… for the maximums. It will also be 24°C in Lyon, 22°C in Reims, 21°C in Le Mans, 19°C in Nantes…
On the other hand, the sky should be very overcast on Saturday, without it raining. Here are Météo France’s forecasts this Tuesday for Saturday afternoon:
The southern half still affected on Sunday
On Sunday, the very mild episode will mainly affect the southern half. Rennes and Paris will return to 15°C when, in the South, it could still be 30°C in Perpignan, according to the ECMWF model. The Icon model even predicts 32°C.
The sky will still be overcast, as seen in this Météo France forecast map for Sunday afternoon:
The episode should largely subside on Monday, notably with the arrival of a disturbance across almost the whole of France. These forecasts still need to be consolidated.
