Frenchwoman Sandra Badie, Vice-World Champion of Jujitsu, Died at 31

Sandra Badie has died aged 31.

She was a triple champion of France and vice-world champion of jujitsu. Sandra Badie died at the age of 31, the French judo federation said on Friday.

Sandra Badie made an impression in November 2022, becoming vice-world champion in jujitsu in the – 48 kg category. The 31-year-old athlete died, announced the French judo federation this Friday 19th May 2023.

She is thought to have died after a cardiac arrest, but the precise causes were not communicated.

Triple champion of France

In addition to her career at the last world championships (her greatest success), Sandra Badie had previously won three titles of French champion in jujitsu, a discipline mixing judo, karate and aikido. 

She played under the colours of the Soumoulou club, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The sports deputy of the city of Pau, Eric Saubatte, paid tribute to him.

“Deep sadness on learning of the sudden disappearance of Sandra Badie,” he wrote. “It’s too fast, too unfair. A great champion is leaving us.”
