The municipality of Mondeville, near Caen, has just invested 50,000 euros to install a fitness structure, a new playground and a zip line in the park of Biez.
In Mondeville, near Caen (Calvados), the Biez Park is getting a new look. New games and sports structures were inaugurated this Saturday 31st August 2019, in the morning. For the Mayor of Mondeville Hélène Burgat:
“The Biez Park is very used, but it had an aging playground. He deserved to be renewed in his organization.”
A project born 18 months ago
The idea goes back 18 months. The neighbourhood councils of the Plateau, the Barrey Valley and the downtown area wanted to bring something new to the Biez municipal park.
Existing for four years, neighbourhood councils “are very active and hyper invested,” said Mayor Hélène Burgat. “They have contributed to advancing fine projects in Mondeville such as development or traffic.”
“It reinforces the family and leisure aspect of the park”
Ville de Mondeville and the neighbourhood councils then worked together to choose the structures best suited to each.
“This project reinforces the family and leisure dimension of the Biez Park. It will also allow the inhabitants to meet, relax and practice a sporting activity.”
An envelope of 50 000 euros
An envelope of € 50,000 was thus released to install new structures in the Biez Park, in June and July 2019.
After the bridge, coming from the parking of the media library and Halle Bérégovoy, a fitness station has emerged (cost: 20,500 euros). Designed for over 14 years, this fitness station can do 80 exercises on 10 apparatus. “This is the first element of a sport-health course,” continues Hélène Burgat.
Two 2km and 5km running courses are now available inside the Biez Park.
The space of toddlers soon refitted
A little further, an important playground for over six years was installed and a zipline was born, right next to the playground for toddlers (2-6 years). Total cost: 29,650 euros.
Ageing, the space of toddlers will soon be redeveloped for a price of 4,000 euros.
