Death of Jacques Chirac: The Eiffel Tower Extinguished in Tribute to the Former President

After the death of Jacques Chirac, Thursday 26th September 2019, the Eiffel Tower will be extinguished, Thursday evening. A new tribute to the former mayor of Paris and former president.

It will be black, Thursday 26th September 2019 in the evening: the Eiffel Tower will be extinguished, in tribute to  Jacques Chirac, who died in the morning at his Paris home in the rue de Tournon.


Extinction at 9 pm

Lights will turn off at 9 pm on Thursday night. It was Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, who announced it on his Twitter account.

This tribute extends the list of tributes paid in Paris to the former mayor of the city and former president: flags at half-mast, notebooks of condolences, minutes of silence …
