Severe storms could break out in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region on Saturday (June 15th). Meteo France has issued an Orange alert warning
Side weather, Saturday 15th June 2019 will be mitigated in France, with a strong disturbance expected in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Meteo France has placed nine departments in orange alert for the risk of violent storms.
After a relatively quiet early morning, “thunderstorms will begin to develop on the central massif” alerts the forecaster in its weather report.
In the early afternoon, violent oranges are feared on the Haute-Loire, the Loire, the Rhone, then in the afternoon on the Ardèche, Ain, then gaining the Drôme and alpine departments Isère, Savoy and Haute-Savoie.
“These storms will become virulent with heavy hail, wind gusts of the order of 80 km/h may exceed locally, and high rainfall intensity (typically around 20 to 30 mm in one hour). Electrical activity is also expected to be sustained.”
