SOCIAL NETWORKS: At the end of the day, the amount corresponding to all the words you have typed is automatically debited from your account

It is an original initiative, but far from being disinterested. A Dutch entrepreneur has just launched   where each character sent is paid. On “Expensive Chat” , each letter is charged 1 cent (0.8 cents). What to think twice before sending a message or troll other users …

At the end of the day, the amount for all the words you have typed is automatically debited from your account. To get an idea, a message of 174 characters is charged $ 1.46, or 1.28 euros.

“A social experience”

“It’s a social experience to see what happens at a chat room when it’s not free, since every message costs you cash,” said messenger designer Marc Köhlbrugge. But “Expensive Chat” is above all a “fun way” to raise money. “To be honest, the reason I launched it, it is because I thought it would be a fun way to make me some money,” he said in Motherboard site . In all, 471 dollars, or nearly 370 euros , have already been paid on the site.

Marc Köhlbrugge is not at his first attempt. The Dutch entrepreneur has already launched several experimental sites, including the Highscore.money site that made its users pay to be able to reach the top of the ranking.
