A collision between a train and a van occurred in Saint-Arnoult (Calvados) near Deauville, Sunday 21st January, 2018. The driver died.
The accident took place on Sunday 21st January at 4.03 pm, near Deauville (Calvados). A collision between a train and a car occurred on the crossing of Saint-Arnoult.
After forcing the gate of the crossing, a utility vehicle has been caught by the train. Its driver died.
The movement of trains stopped
There were no injuries on the TER, travelling in the direction Trouville-Lisieux. An important backup system was put in place. Rail traffic was interrupted.
On Twitter, the Calvados prefecture says:
⚠️ A Saint-Arnoult, collision entre un TER et un véhicule utilitaire (16h45). L’occupant du véhicule est décédé. Les passagers du train ne sont pas blessés et seront acheminés par bus à Lisieux. Trafic ferroviaire suspendu sur la ligne Trouville-Lisieux.

This is the third such accident in the Pays d’Auge in two months. November 2, 2017, a couple and a child were killed in Bonneville-sur-Touques.
On the 20th December 2017, a Regional Express Train hit a car at the crossing protection level of Canapville. The driver was only slightly injured.
