On the decision of the state, the site of the group Lactalis Nutrition Santé (LNS) Craon, Mayenne, stopped producing milk powder as a result of salmonellosis. Since then, parents across the country file complaints against the individual Mayenne business for “endangering the lives of others.” Ouest France published the testimony of one of them.

The Lactalis group announced Thursday, December 21 the withdrawal of 720 batches of baby milk and other products to the risk of salmonella contamination. Products Picot Milumel and Taranis , potentially contaminated, in addition to 625 baby milk batches already withdrawn the last two weeks

Since then, dozens of relatives came together through social networks. Some complained individually against Lactalis for “endangering the lives of others” and now lead a collective action. An association was created: the association of families of victims of contaminated milk salmonella.

It is chaired by Quentin Guillemain, 33. The father of an infant, frame domiciled in Seine-Saint-Denis (93), was originally the creation of an e-mail to the victims: victimeslactalis@gmail.com.

He told Ouest-France therefore filed a complaint against the global giant milk.  Here is his testimony.

“How you do not want to be angry? “

“Is fine to say that we gastroenteritis is benign, it is serious and scandalous to endanger the life of a baby. The milk powder boxes recalled by the state are those supplied to hospitals, pharmacies, supermarkets … How can you not be angry when a pharmacy sells you a contaminated milk?

Between parents, we do not know because we come from different geographical backgrounds.We got in touch with each other Sunday, December 10th through social networks. Groups were created on Facebook: ”  Milk Contaminated: us react against Lactalis  ” and ”  Parents victims of Lactalis  ‘.

After opening victimeslactalis@gmail.com , about forty parents concerned by a sick child or buying a contaminated milk box, sent an email to that address. In my view, this number will increase and go well beyond the twenty cases reported and recorded by the Ministry of Health.

“She had some diarrhea”    

I have a daughter of two and a half months called Linette. Having a first child when young parent is a source of concern. At birth, they had just found out that she was allergic to cow’s milk proteins. She had taken the same milk and had some diarrhea.

Without knowing why. It has been contaminated but she drank the milk concerned: Pepti Junior 1 age (Picot brand product out of the plant to Lactalis Craon in Mayenne), who was among the first batches that were reported on Saturday 2nd December. This milk, she drinks from birth, we are on a prescription for this milk.

“Should we take her to the hospital or not? “

We were especially concerned that we have read the first reports on the night of 5th to the 6th December 2017 by reading the press. We did not know how to react because we’re not a doctor. Should we take him to the hospital or not? We took his temperature every two hours and have finally decided not to touch the milk in question.

At that time, the emergency line numbers were not all been opened except the manufacturer but it was not working during the night. So, we went into a pharmacy who issued us a milk substitute. And we searched the Internet for symptoms related to Salmonella contamination.

“Do not worry, all is well! “

The next morning, we called the telephone number of the manufacturer (0800120120). We were told: “Do not worry, all is well! There is no problem. You can destroy the milk boxes “. Something that surprised and angered us, because, at that time, they were the affected lot numbers and to prove that the milk has actually been consumed by our daughter, it is still necessary to keep the box!

So on Saturday, after consulting a lawyer, we decided to file individual basis complaint for “endangering the lives of others and failure to assist a person in danger.” This complaint is being prepared and will be filed in the coming hours with the pole “health” of the public prosecutor of Paris. I know that some parents have already filed complaints individually including a mom for “poisoning”. Others are considering joining a “group action”, but I do not know in any form.

“Imagine the distress of parents”

Sunday 10th December, when the warnings appeared from theMinistries of Economy and Finance and Health, the scale has grown since then other parents felt concerned because they have discovered, bewildered, as the milk they thought was not contaminated earlier in the week, actually was. You have to imagine at that time parental distress fortunately, solidarity played and families, where possible, given a box of milk to others.

“Will it launch an investigation? “

The casual approach with which this subject is treated is very damaging. When we see that Lactalis does the testing itself, as cases of contamination have been found in this business in 2005, what has been done by the manufacturer and the Department of Health? Production of contaminated milk powder was fortunately stopped at the plant in Craon but will it launch an investigation and shed light on this matter?
