CYCLING: The Sprinter, Michael Matthews of the Sunweb team won the 14th stage …
Michael Matthews, the sprinter of the Sunweb team, won the 14th stage of the Tour de France 2017 between Blagnac and Rodez (181km) . The unusual steep finish at the arrival to the top of the Côte de Saint-Pierre in Rodez, offered a rare explanation between sprinters in the Tour de France. The Australian finished ahead of Greg Van Avermaet.

The breakaway was formed rather rapidly by the French cyclist Thomas Voeckler and Maxime Bouet, joined by Thomas De Gendt, Reto Hollenstein and Timo Roosen. But never had the breakaway any hope of staying away today, as the sprinters teams were leading the pelothon to close the gap, which they easily managed to do so in the last climb up to the finish.
In the overall General Classification, a big change! Badly placed at the foot of the last climb, Fabio Aru lost nearly 20 seconds over Chris Froome, who had tactically managed to keep near the front of the main group of riders, and thus recovered the yellow jersey. The first four of the general stand within three seconds.
