It is a storm of exceptional violence, much more active than that which hit north-western France on Friday, looming in Gironde Saturday morning, warns the prefecture.

On indications of Meteo France, the prefecture announced that gusts could reach 130 km/h on the southern shores of the Gironde, and 160 km/h on the north coast. Inland, the wind will go up to 110 km/h. The department is ranked in a status of red alert, especially between 5 am and 11 am.
These phenomena are likely to locally cause significant damage, particularly on the light habitat.
Closing schools, banning trucks on highways
The prefecture has decided to introduce exceptional measures, such as closing to traffic of the Aquitaine bridge from 5 am to 12 pm, the prohibition of truck traffic on highways and main roads, and the prohibition navigation on the estuary of the Garonne, upstream of Pauillac Ile-line Patiras.
In addition, all schools will be closed, and outdoor events and markets are canceled. Emergency accommodation centers will remain open throughout the weekend.
