Following the violent storms experienced by the South-Sarthe, trains were halted on Wednesday morning between Sable and Le Mans. SNCF announced that traffic will be restored by 2pm. The movement of trains st diverted by the station Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, said a statement from the prefecture.
Severe thunderstorms that hit the south of the Sarthe, in the night, disrupted train traffic. “Branches and trees fell on the tracks” says the SNCF. The biggest incident occurred between Noyen and Suze, “a catenary was damaged.”
Since this morning, the SNCF-call technicians are on site. As the company announced, at first, that traffic would be restored for 12 hours. This will eventually be the case before 2pm.
Result this morning, traffic was completely stopped in both directions of movement between Sable and Le Mans. SNCF chartered taxis and buses from Sable, for passengers stranded at the station. Train traffic between Sable-sur-Sarthe and Le Mans is currently blocked by the station of Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, said the prefecture.
