Chateaubriant welcomes the annual cycle race through the streets…
The traditional cycling semi-nocturne race, returns to Chateaubriant this evening organised by the le circuit des portes médiévales. It all starts at 8.30pm opposite the Chateau in Chateaubriant and the circuit will be around the town centre, so turn up early as parking could prove difficult, with many roads closed for the event.
I have watched a couple of these in previous years and over two hours you see some very close racing at some tremendous speeds considering some of the tight corners in the centre of town, with normally numerous spectators cheering them on. It has a great atmosphere, especially if the weather is hot like it was yesterday .
The chateaubriant cycling club, the Cyclo-Club Castelbriantais, is celebrating its 50th year this year so they will be organising many events over the next few months to celebrate.
