The Vendée Globe leaders continue to struggle in the lead while Didac Costa will enter the Indian Ocean. At 9 am on Friday, Armel Le Cléac’h (Banque Populaire) leads the fleet, 137 miles ahead of Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss).
The Vendée Globe saw a landmark week. While the damages are linked together as skippers are dropping out fast in a bustling Indian Ocean, the leading boats have already covered half the course with record times. Armel Le Cléac’h (Banque Populaire) still leads ahead and maintains around 137 miles over runner Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss).
After the abandonment of Sébastien Josse (Edmond de Rothschild) on Wednesday morning , Paul Meilhat (SMA) is still in third place but 1290 miles from Le Cléac’h. Behind him, the skippers that follow are Beyou (Maitre Coq) is fourth ahead of Yann Elies (Quéguiner – Leukemia Hope) . Sixth found Jean-Pierre Dick (Virbac St Michel).
A little further, Eric Bellion (Commeunseulhomme) has logically lost a place and slipped in seventeenth position after his damaged rudder , repaired yesterday afternoon after 8 hours of effort. Note that Didac Costa (One Planet One Ocean) will enter in turn the Indian Ocean.
