The morning was lively in front of the Les Bruyères technological high school, in Sotteville-lès-Rouen. According to videos that we were able to consult, the high school blockade, embellished with mortar fire, found a large police force in front of him.

In addition to high school students, around forty students from Mont-Saint-Aignan, for certain Jeunes Insoumis activists, went to Les Bruyères as reinforcements, while tension was rising. “It was chaos there”, one of them told us. It was gassing everywhere, the BAC was tearing off the masks…”

At the end of the morning, Hugo was arrested and taken into police custody. “We heard the orders ‘stop him’, we wanted to join him but the police were blocking the road, we arrived too late” regrets an activist present on site.

Two arrests in Bruyères

Why was the young person arrested, aged 26 and an Insoumis activist, arrested? His relatives and a union leader present in front of the police station assure that he simply wanted helping a high school student, put on the ground by the police. A video of the events is circulating.

Contacted, the prefecture puts forward “two arrests for throwing projectiles and outrages” at the Les Bruyères high school, which will remain closed Thursday and Friday, just like the Marcel Sembat (Sotteville) and Val de Seine (Grand-Quevilly) high schools where arrests also took place.

The mobilization quickly organized itself to meet in front of the Rouen police station, where around fifty people were there at 2 p.m. Trade unionists, high school students, Young Rebels… They demanded. the release of their colleague, and minor high school students also arrested – their number not being known. In front of Les Bruyères, two people were allegedly taken away by the police, Hugo and a high school student.

In a festive atmosphere, the songs took place after a speech, then a sit-in was organized in front of the entrance to the police station, to the sound of Diam’s flow echoed at the top of their lungs. Around 3:30 p.m., a delegation made up of trade unionists and relatives of the adult in police custody was finally received… before coming out 30 minutes later, head bowed.

“He risks staying the night”, complains a CGT official on the megaphone, speaking of the Insoumis activist, provoking whistles from the crowd. Maxime Da Silva (LFI), elected opposition to the City of Rouen and present, then called for massive gathering, to put pressure on and demand the release of all those in police custody.

A delegation mandated in the afternoon did not obtain the release of the student and the high school students in police custody.

“We know that’Hugo is fine, reassured Jean-Marc Préel, FO secretary in charge of Education in Seine-Maritime, shortly after 6 p.m., after speaking with his lawyer. We maintain the fraternal gathering for liberation. ”

A joint letter from several unions and the Human Rights League was sent to the prefecture, also contacted by Alma Dufour, LFI deputy. At the time of closing these lines, the mobilization was still underway. Until early morning?
