Weather: Falling Temperatures in Lyon, Snow is Falling Heavily in These Resorts in the Alps

A drop in temperatures due to a cold drop affects Lyon this week. Snow is falling heavily in several resorts in the Alps. Here are the weather conditions in the area.
Temperatures have drastically fell in Lyon and in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in a few days. A “cold drop” affects France. The thermometer sometimes displays more than 8°C below seasonal norms. The snow is falling even strongly in certain ski resorts in the Alps.
Cold temperatures in Lyon for the season
In Lyon, temperatures are low for the start of autumn (up to 8°C below normal). This Thursday, September 25, it will be between 10°C in the morning and 16°C in the afternoon. The weather will be very cloudy with drizzle during the day.
Friday it will be between 10°C and 17°C. However, clearings will be observed. On Saturday, the weather will not warm up further: it will be between 9°C and 18°C. On Sunday, the thermometer could show a maximum of 20°C in the afternoon, but the morning will remain cool with 8°C.
Under the influence of this cold drop, a large part of France experiences very autumnal weather conditions. Cloudiness is significant with very discreet or completely absent sun over a large part of the territory, particularly from the central regions towards the northeast. These are the northeastern regions which experience the most frequent rains”, specifies Guillaume Séchet on his site Metro-Villes.

Snowfall in the Alps
This situation concerns the whole of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. And this cold has the effect of generating snowfall at altitude. It’s the case in Puy-de-Sancy in Auvergne, but especially in the north of the Alps.
The station of Bonneval-sur-Arc, in Savoie, is affected by good snowfall. The soils whiten from 1800 meters.

Snow from 1800 meters
Météo-Alpes mentions another Savoyard ski resort: Val-d’Isère. It also snows from 1800 meters and the flakes remain on the ground.
“White awakening on the ski area from Arêches-Beaufort (Savoie) with snow-covered soils from 2000 meters. New burst of snowfall expected from 1800/2000 meters almost everywhere during the day this Wednesday”, writes Météo-Alpes on Facebook.
In the Isère part, Alpe-d’Huez is also affected by snowfall. They fell on Tuesday, particularly at the top of the slopes, from 2700 m to the level of Pic Blanc, at 3,300 meters.
