French director Jean-Pierre Mocky died Thursday 8th August 2019 at the age of 90, announced his family.

The filmmaker Jean-Pierre Mocky, the most unclassifiable French filmmaker, died on Thursday 8th August 2019 at the age of 90, announced his family.

“Jean-Pierre Mocky died at home this afternoon at 15h,” said his son Jerome Pierrat to AFP. The filmmaker’s death was confirmed by his son, comedian and director Stanislas Nordey.

In a statement, Stanislas Nordey and the filmmaker’s daughter, Olivia Mokiejewski write: 

“Jean-Pierre Mocky left to shoot his next film with Bourvil, Michel Serrault, Michel Simon, Fernandel, Jacqueline Maillant, Jeanne Moreau, Jean Poiret, Francis Blanche, Charles Aznavour and many others. The filmmaker died in his 91st year at his Paris home, surrounded by his family and loved ones. “
