The two occupants of this  Cessna 172 were killed instantly. Contacted by Actu Toulouse, the PGHM Pyrénées-Orientales specifies that one of the victims is domiciled in the Pink City, the other in Andorra.

He took off from Toulouse-Blagnac

According to the flight plan, consulted by the investigators, the plane took off from the airport of Toulouse-Blagnacto the aerodrome of Sainte-Léocadie, in the Pyrénées-Orientales. But after a first unsuccessful approach, he tried a second, and that’s where the accident occurred, a few kilometres from the airfield.

What exactly happened? The investigation will have to determine it. According to the first elements, after the crash, the aircraft immediately ignited and was burned to ashes. Still, the weather and visibility were good in Cerdanya.

Two witnesses would have seen the plane sink

According to L’Indépendant , ” two witnesses claim to have seen the plane plunge suddenly, before it crashes on the hill, about fifty meters from the road.”

In addition to the thirty or so firefighters in the Pyrénées-Orientales, the authorities in the sector have deployed a large amount of money, with a civil security helicopter . Gendarmerie military air transport (ATM) from Toulouse-Blagnac were also sent there to lend a hand to the police PGHM Pyrenees-Orientales.
