Benoit Paire (38th ) qualified Friday 31st May, 2019 for last 16 of the finals of Roland Garros , his best result, after beating his opponent, Spaniard Pablo Carreño (57th ) .
He will next face Japanese Kei Nishikori (7th ), winner of the Serbian Laslo Djere (32nd ) 6-4, 6-7 (6/8), 6-3, 4-6, 8-6.

His opponent hit a thigh
The Frenchman led two innings to one (6-2, 4-6, 7-6) when the Spaniard, who had just been massaged, decided to give up.
The Avignonnais, two days after his marathon match against Pierre-Hugues Herbert (5 sets and more than 4:30), has benefited from a shortened match.

Benoit Paire, who won the Lyon tournament just before arriving in Paris, had never exceeded the 3rd round at Roland Garros, a stage it had reached in 2013 and 2015. It equals his best blow Grand Slam result, with two other last 16 finals at the 2015 US Open and Wimbledon in 2017.
First Tricolor qualified for the 8th finals, it will be compulsorily joined by compatriot Gael Monfils faces since the 3rd round Hoang Antoine. Last year, no French had reached last 16 of the Roland Garros.
Mahut and Moutet eliminated
The other two tricolor players entered this Friday were out. The adventure of Angevin Nicolas Mahut ended in the third round, beaten by the Argentine Leonardo Mayer 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-4,7-6 (7-3). The young Corentin Moutet has undergone the law of another Argentine, Juan Ignacio Londero, in five rounds (2-6, 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4).
