Last figure of “la bande du conservatoire”

With his disappearance, one of the last figures of “la bande du conservatoire”, formed in the early 50’s by actors like Jean-Paul Belmondo, Claude Rich or Jean Rochefort, the friend of a lifetime for Marielle, is extinguished.

The comedian with the cavernous voice had disappeared from the screens for several years, after having played in more than a hundred films (under the direction of Audiard, Blier, Molinaro, Mocky, Sautet, Tavernier, Miller, among others) and countless plays and TV movies.

Initially actor of theater and boulevard, Jean-Pierre Marielle will know shy beginnings in the cinema before exploding at the end of the sixties and to impose his banter and his disillusioned air, as much in comic films as tragic, author than the general public.

Named seven times to Caesar

It marks the spirits in “Le diable par la queue” of Philippe de Broca, “La valise” of Georges Lautner or “Comment réussir quand on est con et pleurnichard ” of Michel Audiard.

There is intense activity in front of the cameras (it goes up to five films a year). Among them, Bertrand Tavernier’s “Que la Fête commence”, Yves Boisset’s “Dupont Lajoie”, Joel Séria’s “Les galettes de Pont-Aven” and Tavernier’s “Coup de Torchon”, Blier’s “Tenue de soirée” , “Uranus” by Claude Berri, “La Petite Lili” by Claude Miller and “TLes âmes grisess” by Yves Angelo.

During his career, he has been named seven times to the César for his role in “Every morning of the world”, which many consider to be the pinnacle of his filmography.
