“Agathe Marielle sadly announces that her husband died on April 24 at 4.24 pm, at the Four Cities Hospital in Saint-Cloud. The funeral will be held in the strictest intimacy, “said his wife in a statement.
Last figure of “la bande du conservatoire”
With his disappearance, one of the last figures of “la bande du conservatoire”, formed in the early 50’s by actors like Jean-Paul Belmondo, Claude Rich or Jean Rochefort, the friend of a lifetime for Marielle, is extinguished.
The comedian with the cavernous voice had disappeared from the screens for several years, after having played in more than a hundred films (under the direction of Audiard, Blier, Molinaro, Mocky, Sautet, Tavernier, Miller, among others) and countless plays and TV movies.
Initially actor of theater and boulevard, Jean-Pierre Marielle will know shy beginnings in the cinema before exploding at the end of the sixties and to impose his banter and his disillusioned air, as much in comic films as tragic, author than the general public.
