Free Party in the Maine-et-Loire: 60 Cars Verbalised and 17 Licenses Removed

The free party took place on the night of Saturday 6 to Sunday 7 April 2019, in Izernay (Maine-et-Loire).

250 people gathered last weekend in a forest located in the town of Yzernay (Maine-et-Loire). Legal proceedings are open against the organiser.

250 people gathered at the height of the evening

Around 250 people gathered last weekend in a wood, in the heart of the forest of Villefort, behind the cemetery of the Martyrs.

The gendarmes noted offenses against “all owners of the sixty vehicles parked despite the ban in the forest,” they said on their Facebook page .



During the night and the morning, the police also checked the vehicles leaving the premises:

  • 15 offenses were reported for driving under the influence of narcotics
  • two for driving after overconsumption of alcohol
  • and a default of insurance

17 festival-goers, deprived of their driving license, will be summoned to court in the coming months, the gendarmerie said:

“Faced with the recurrence of this type of unauthorised nocturnal event in the rural areas of the department, the gendarmes of Maine-et-Loire will remain inflexible about their repressive action.”
