Nearly three quarters of French people are in favour of holding a referendum in the coming months, but are divided on the idea that it will be held on May 26th, day of the European elections, according to an Ifop poll for the Journal du Dimanche.
73% of respondents favour a referendum in France in the coming months, and 27% are against it.
If it should take place, respondents share equally on its date: 50% would like the consultation to be held at the same time as the European elections in May, and 50% later in the year.
Survey conducted online Thursday and Friday with a sample of 1,006 people aged 18 and over according to the quota method. Margin of error from 1.4 to 3.1 points.
