“This is a horrible moment for all the players, from the football school to the professional group, staff members and volunteers, administrators and leaders,” writes the club.

Found inanimate

According to our colleagues from Paris-Normandy , Samba Diop was found inanimate at home and died in the emergency department of Le Havre. According to our information, the young footballer would have died following a cardiac arrest.

The meeting of Ligue 2 against Reims, Saturday 7th April, 2018, has been postponed.

“A child of the HAC”

The Le Havre club is literally in shock.

“Samba was really a child of the HAC, he is at the center of training since its inception, ensures Clémentine Maillot, in charge of press relations of the HAC. Everyone knows him at the club, he trained from time to time with the professionals.”

Samba was a young man “very serious, polite, wise and had a very promising future in the world of football. ”

The HAC has planned a moment of meditation in the coming days. But for now, all games have been canceled. “And training at the training center will certainly not resume Monday,” said Clémentine Maillot.

The world of mourning football

This is the third young player that French football loses in a few weeks. In March and April 2018, young apprentice footballers from Tours and Guingamp, Thomas Rodriguez (18) and Baptiste Le Foll (12) also lost their lives.

A minute of silence in tribute to Samba Diop will be observed in the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches, during the weekend of Saturday 7th to Sunday 8th April 2018.
