Cold, snow, ice… Update on What Awaits us This Weekend

t’s a time to take out your animal skin and your hat filled with sheep’s wool. Mittens and scarves will also be required to set foot outside. The weekend looks cold, very cold with snow, freezing fog and frosts.

Snowfall at low altitude is forecast this Friday by Météo-france which also predicts the arrival of “a disturbance from the west on Saturday” with, again, snow but also “phenomena sliding all the way to the plain”. You will have to be particularly careful on the roads, a large part of France is on yellow alert for snow and ice.

Low temperatures for the season

The cold spell which hit the entire country at the start of the week should reach its peak on Saturday with -1 °C in Paris, -4 °C in Le Mans and Clermont-ferrand, -6 °C to Nancy, before a mild spell expected on Sunday, specifies the meteorological organization.

“These temperatures are located 4 to 6 °C below seasonal norms, corresponding to the usual values for the months of December or January”, indicates the national forecaster on his website.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, new snowfall will affect a large central strip of the country Hauts-de-france to the south of the Massif Central. When you wake up, you may find between 2 and 5 cm of snow.
