Storm Amy: Six Departments Placed by Météo France on Orange Alert for Violent Winds this Saturday

Storm Amy is circulating in the British Isles and will generate strong gusts of wind this Saturday afternoon in the Channel coast departments, according to Météo France.
Météo France is strengthening its vigilance. After reporting nearly 60 departments on yellow alert for “violent winds” this Saturday 4th October 2025 morning, the institution draws the orange alert.
The cause: violent gusts expected on the northwest coast, in the wake of storm Amy which has been shaking France since Friday.
Six departments on orange alert
Previously placed on yellow alert. six departments are switching to orange vigilance, announcement by Meteo France in his 10 a.m. Saturday bulletin.

Up to 130 km/h wind
The reason for this change to orange? “Storm Amy is circulating in the British Isles and will generate strong gusts of wind in the departments near the Channel coast”, responds the institution weather french.
On the Channel coast, gusts of around 100 to 120 km/h, or even 130 km/h locally, are expected. Inland, gusts reach 90 to 100 km/h, or even 110 km/h locally.
A few gusts are observable in the morning but it is especially from midday that the wind will strengthen, especially the west wind. On the menu: “strong gusts under stormy showers”.
