WHAT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN IPHONE 11 AND 11 PRO?

Price, camera, autonomy … Discover the differences between iPhone 11 and 11 Pro

The screen and the case: the first point of dissension between the two models?

The design of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro is almost identical. The main disparity is mainly due to an edge of the aluminium case for the iPhone 11 and stainless steel for its Pro variant. The colours of the hulls are also quite distinct. The iPhone 11 Pro displays sober shades inherited from the brand’s old premium ranges. The iPhone 11 favours more lively and shimmering tones.

But the real difference remains the type of screen of the two smartphones. The iPhone 11 Pro has a 5.8-inch OLED screen. Its resolution is 2,436 x 1,125 pixels (458 ppi) for a contrast ratio of 2,000,000: 1. For the iPhone 11, we remain on a standard 6.1-inch LCD screen. For comparison, it displays a resolution of 1,792 x 828 pixels (326 PPI) for a contrast ratio equivalent to 1,400: 1. We then stay on HD and not Full HD. Note that the format is identical with a 19.5: 9 ratio.

What are the disparities for photography and video?

Another notable change for Apple smartphones: photo sensors. The iPhone 11 has two, while the Pro version has three. Indeed, the latter has a telephoto sensor to make a long focal length. A significant asset for making portraits, as well as close-ups. When it comes to lens performance, each sensor has an accuracy of 12 megapixels.

We can also dwell on additional differences between the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro:

  • a double optical stabilizer for the iPhone 11 Pro, against a simple one for the iPhone 11;
  • 2x optical zoom in on the iPhone 11 Pro, but absent on the iPhone 11;
  • a 10x digital zoom integrated into the iPhone 11 Pro and 5x for the iPhone 11.

Both smartphones support 4K streams for shooting and capturing videos.

Slightly different battery life between iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

The question of autonomy is also the subject of disparities between the two models. Thus, the iPhone 11 provides a battery of 3,110 mAh and the Pro variant has a capacity of 3,046 mAh. This minor difference nevertheless has an impact depending on the operating mode and the applications used. Audio playback remains equivalent and displays a common autonomy of 65 hours.

For video playback, the iPhone 11 peaks at 17 hours of battery life. This estimate goes to 6 p.m. for the iPhone 11 Pro. Same observation with online video streaming. We are at 10 o’clock for the iPhone 11 and 11 o’clock for the Pro model. However, these assessments should be adjusted for everyone’s use and have a full charge to benefit from them.

Fast charging is supported by both models. However, the iPhone 11 is compatible with a power of 15 watts. It is 18 watts for the iPhone 11 Pro. For the latter, the fast charger is included with the smartphone. It must be purchased separately for the “standard” iPhone 11, since it only provides an initial 5-watt charger.

What are the prices of the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro?

The cost of an iPhone 11 and 11 Pro is also subject to change. In order to justify this disparity in price, Apple uses different storage capacities. Thus, pricing is presented as follows:

  • iPhone 11: between € 809 and € 979 with variants in 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB;
  • iPhone 11 Pro: between € 1,159 and € 1,559 with variants in 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB.

Note that the iPhone 11 ranges are available from Rakuten. You can find new and used models.

Are there differences in the configuration of the new Apple smartphones?

The operating system remains the same: iOS 13. Similarly, the A13 Bionic chip equips the entire range. We can nevertheless notice some differences in terms of chipset and compatibility:

  • iPhone 11 : Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 4 Go RAM ;
  • iPhone 11 Pro: Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 802.11ac, 6 Go RAM.

And the iPhone 11 Pro Max?

Another variant of Apple smartphones is the iPhone 11 Pro Max. It has many similarities to the Pro model. However, it differs from its counterparts by its 6.5-inch OLED screen. It also displays the best resolution in the range with 2,688 x 1,242 pixels or 458 PPI. Note that the tightness of the case is slightly better than other models.

Likewise, the battery goes to 3,969 mAh. To use the previous comparison criteria, audio playback allows 80 hours of autonomy after a full charge. Video playback brings this estimate to 8 p.m., while online video streaming is at 12 p.m.

On the price side, the iPhone 11 Pro Max displays the most important prices of this generation of Apple smartphone. The 64 GB version, the “entry-level”, is € 1,259. The 256 GB variant goes to € 1,429. If you want to benefit from a storage capacity of 512 GB, you have to count € 1,659. Note that this is the pricing for new models.
