Ligue 1: Strasbourg Delays the Coronation and the Party of the PSG

Strasbourg delays the coronation of PSG in Ligue 1

The reigning French champions will have to secure their title next Sunday in Lille, where a draw will be enough for the 32nd day.

Lille opened a boulevard to the title, but the PSG with an experimental attack and a defense with holes was slowed Sunday by Strasbourg (2-2).

For Paris, this is only a counter-time before the coronation in Ligue 1.

The reigning French champions will be able to secure their title next Sunday in Lille, where a tie will suffice them on the 32nd day.

First defeat at the Park

Hooked in Reims (1-1) Sunday afternoon, the Lille dolphin had put the PSG on track for an eighth national title, the sixth since the beginning of the Qatari era in 2011.

A victory was enough for Thomas Tuchel’s men , but it escaped them at the Park for the first time this season in the league, after 15 home successes.

Without the long-term absentees Neymar and Edinson Cavani, nor Kylian Mbappé spared at kickoff, the German coach has made an experimental attack with Eric Choupo-Moting and Christopher Nkunku , in front of the pair of circles Marco Verratti and Leandro Paredes .

The opener came from a sublime pass from the Argentine, the only rookie of the winter mercato, who broke the lines to find Colin Dagba on the right side.

The young 20-year-old defender has centered for Choupo-Moting, author of his third goal in L1, the first in the Park!

Choupo-Moting is

From heroes, the former Stoke striker turned into zero a few minutes later, stopping on the Strasbourg goal line a nice pique balloon from his partner Christopher Nkunku …

And the Parisians have paid dearly the incredible awkwardness of the Cameroonian, greeted with stupor by Mbappé from the sidelines, according to the images of Canal Plus become viral on the Internet.

For Strasbourg, who had already held on to the PSG in the first leg (1-1 in the Meinau, 3 draws in L1 only), took advantage of the defensive largesse to reverse the situation.

Nuno Da Costa, alone at the penalty spot, had just before this missed a recaptured center of Lionel Carole (26th), before Anthony Gonçalves mystifies Gianluigi Buffon with a shot from outside the foot and the surface (38th).

The faithful of the Park have copiously booed the Alsatian environment, known in Paris for the controversy that had opposed Neymar January 23 in the Coupe de France.

Mbappé returns but remains silent

“Neymar is his style but when you want to play like that, do not complain if you take blows behind (…) He can have fun but he does not come to eat after,” said Gonçalves after the meeting against PSG, in which the Brazilian superstar injured his right foot.

The N.10 of the Seleçao has not replayed since.

Excluded at the hour of play for having won against the referee, Tuchel has joined the stands not without entering, beforehand, his “shark” Mbappé at the same time as Julian Draxler.

The young world champion has revitalized the attack with his dribbling and acceleration, centered for Dani Alves who found the crossbar (69th) then forced the goalkeeper from Strasbourg to release a hit after a raid alone on the left wing.

On the corner that followed, Draxler dropped the ball on the head of new entrant Thilo Kehrer (82nd) for the equaliser.

The Parisians pushed to the end but that was not enough to bend the recent winner of the Coupe de la Ligue.

Eliminated in the quarterfinals of Coupe de la Ligue against Guingamp but winner of the Champions Trophy in early August, Paris remains in the race for a national triplet, with the final of the Coupe de France to play April 27 against Rennes.
