Media specializing in celebrities TMZ and Entertainment Tonight announced that the founder of The Jackson Group 5 died on Wednesday of cancer.
Asked by AFP, representatives of the family members were not immediately available.
“Family sources told TMZ that Joe died at 3:30 in the morning in Los Angeles,” wrote on its site the media specializing in celebrity news . “Joe was hospitalized in June with terminal cancer,” he says.
On his Twitter account, the “father of the famous Jackson family” had posted Sunday a message suggesting that his end was near.

“I’ve seen more sunsets than I have to see,” he wrote, a message with a picture of him admiring the sun setting.
Joe Jackson had discovered the musical talent of his children: he had founded the Jackson 5, in which his son Michael especially gave voice, with hits like “I Want You Back”, released in 1969. The future king of the pop was then 11 years old.
