CYCLING:  “The Times” ensures that the issue has been addressed for the next edition of the Tour de France, which starts on July 7 …

Formula 1 has abandoned its “grid girls” , the Tour de France cycling is preparing to do the same with his hostesses. According to The Times , ASO, the organizer of the race, “is preparing to end this tradition” to have girls on the podium and girls handing over their jerseys and flowers to the winners of the day.

The measure, to which ASO “thinks very seriously”, would be valid at least for the next tour de France, which will start on 7th July in Noirmoutier-en-l’Île.

Not a first

It would not be a first in cycling. The Tour Down Under, which opens the season in Australia, has replaced the hostesses by children for two years.

On the Vuelta, owner of the company Unipublic, of which ASO owns 49% of the shares, the women are now accompanied by men and are no longer kissing the winners since last year.
