Jamaica and the United Kingdom are in mourning. Germaine Mason, Jamaica native naturalized British in 2006 and silver medalist at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, died Thursday in a motorcycle accident in Jamaica, announced the local media.
Former athlete of 34 years would have lost control of his vehicle on his way to Kingston and reportedly died on the spot, the newspaper The Gleaner , which reports a tweet from Prime Minister of the island Andrew Holness, expressing condolences to his family, while other media quoted police sources.

Immediately after the accident, several sports personalities of the island, including the World sprint star Usain Bolt, reportedly went to the scene, still provide local newspapers.
