President Francois Hollande reassures public after terrorist shooting on Champs-Elysee

TERRORISM: The president spoke from the Elysee a few hours after the shooting, Thursday evening on the Champs-Elysee in Paris … 

François Hollande made a brief speech just a few hours after the shooting Thursday evening in which a policeman died . He had to meet with the prime minister Bernard Cazeneuve and Interior Minister Matthias Fekl.

François Hollande promises “absolute vigilance”

The serious face, he wished to recall that there was no doubt about the terrorist nature of the attack, promising to be an “absolute vigilance” to secure the presidential elections, whose first round are held this Sunday 23rd June,  “The message I want to address tonight goes beyond the police and gendarmes and is aimed at citizens. They are protected, they will, the basic principle is trust, solidarity and support of the nation security forces, “he said.

The head of state, speaking from the Elysee Palace announced that he will meet on Friday at 8:01 with the defense council and a “national tribute” would be made for the policeman killed.  He also canceled his scheduled trip this Friday at Belle-Ile-en-Mer (Morbihan) and Guingamp (Côtes d’Armor).
