ACCIDENT: Second fatal accident with a truck in less than 24 hours on the roads of Northern France …
Three people died on Tuesday shortly after midnight in an accident involving their car and a truck at Carvin (Pas-de-Calais) on the A1 motorway, leading to closure of traffic in the direction Paris-Lille until 4am, announced the prefecture.
The day before, on the morning of the 14th November, a collision between a school bus and a truck killed a woman of 47 years on the RN25 between Arras and Doullens, and seriously injured four people, including three college students.
The body “of an adult and a child” found charred
We still do not know the exact circumstances of this new accident on the A1. “For some reason at this stage,” a car “is embedded in the back of a truck carrying mechanical parts,” reported the prefecture. The car “came to rest on a parapet and then caught fire.”
A man of 35, who had been pulled from the vehicle by motorists died “shortly after” of his injuries. Two charred bodies, “that of an adult and a child,” were also found in the carcass of the car by rescue teams. Shocked but unhurt, the driver of the truck, 36, has meanwhile been transported to hospital in Lens (Pas-de-Calais).
The A1 motorway was closed to traffic in the direction Paris-Lille until about 4am, causing traffic being diverted to the secondary network, said the prefecture. An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances and identify the victims of the accident.
