Severe thunderstorms occurred during the night provoking many incidents on the electrical network of Pays de la Loire, mainly in the departments Maine et Loire, Sarthe and Mayenne. 45,000 customers were without power in the Loire Valley at 7.30am this morning.

At the height of the extreme weather, 70,000 customers were without power mainly on the departments Maine et Loire, Sarthe and Mayenne. “The automation networks, and their ability to” self heal ” helped replenish (almost instantaneously) over 35% of customers, says Enedis (ex ERDF), which manages the electricity network in France.

45,000 homes in the region are still without power this morning: 26,000 customers in Maine-et-Loire, 12000 customers in the Sarthe, 6,000 customers in Mayenne, 1000 in Vendée and 500 in Loire-Atlantique.
