He had not returned to his cell after special permission. On Monday night at La Flèche, the inmate of 39 years was spotted by a policeman on a break. Both men were at the same time around the lake of Monnerie, reports Ouest-France .
Recognizing the detainee, the policeman then called for reinforcements. Seeing the gendarmes arrive and moving closer, the wanted man simply dived and immersed into the water. He was eventually caught, wet and cold, before being returned to his cell the next morning.
