Emmanuel Macron wants to extend the State of Emergency in France

The President of the Republic has decided to ask the Parliament to extend until the 1st November, the state of emergency.

During a Defense Council meeting, Emmanuel Macron has announced it will submit to Parliament an extension of the state of emergency until November 1st, after the attack of Manchester and due to the persistence of terrorist threats on French soil. The state of emergency was due to expire on the 15th July.

The Head of State also requested the floor on government measures to strengthen the security outside of the emergency. These proposals will be the subject of a law that will be prepared in the coming weeks, said Emmanuel Macron.

During the meeting, the President also instructed to implement by the 7th June “Task Force” . The center of coordination of services involved in the fight against terrorism was one of the main campaign promises Emmanuel Macron.

Emmanuel Macron has again “emphasized the solidarity between France and the UK in the fight against terrorism” after the Manchester bombing that killed 22 people including children, at the end of a concert.
