Last night in Châteaubriant (44) was the Fête de la Musique, which is held every year, with most villages, towns and cities having events over this weekend.
At the Châteaubriant event, they set up numerous stages throughout the centre of the town and then starting from around 6-7pm various performers take to the stage for an hour or so. Most musical tastes are catered for, from Jazz to country, Modern Pop, traditional, Rock and tunes from the 60’s and 70’s. There are performances from the local schools as well as the Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
This year as it is the time of the World Cup, the preceedings were started by a flash mob, and zumba demonstration, on a large stage behind the Hotel de Ville. Also for those that were missing the World Cup, as of course France were playing a crucial match last night, one of the bars, just round the corner from this performance was projecting the match live onto a large screen.
As you can imagine, the town was packed, with all the bars very busy and most of the performers on the stages grew large crowds, who normally joined in clapping or sing away as well.
it was a fantastic atmosphere, as hopefully you can tell from some of the photos I have taken, and also I took some videos which are on my You Tube channel, but will add some links on here shortly, once I manage to finish uploading them.
