Snow, Ice… Météo-France Triggers Alerts for around Thirty Departments this Monday

After a very eventful week, this Monday 12th January 2026 will again be marked by complicated weather conditions, especially in the northeast.
New week, new vigilance. If last week was marked by heavy snowfall followed by storm Goretti, this Monday 12th January, 2026 will nevertheless be calmer.
However, Météo-France still, place around thirty departments in the northeast on snow-ice yellow alert. The reason? “The first rains could be freezing in the morning before the mild weather”, writes the forecaster.
A worsening of this level cannot be completely excluded if precipitation, as well as soil refreezing, proves to be greater than expected.

And in the rest of the country?
In the rest of the country, “continuous and relatively abundant rains are expected from Brittany to Normandy in the morning”, Morbihan is for example placed on yellow rain-flood alert.
On a southern half, you will be entitled to “large clearings”, despite a small gray sky and a few drops in the afternoon around the Gulf of Lion.
The southwest wind is noticeable in the northern half with gusts of 50 to 60 km/h. The Autan wind blows up to 50 to 60 km/h in its area. In the afternoon the south wind rises on the western ridges of the Pyrenees and in the Rhône valley to reach 60 to 70 km/h in gusts.
