Salmonella: Bacon Sold at Carrefour Recalled Throughout France, Do Not Consume it

The recall concerns more specifically Simpl brand products, sold in Carrefour stores, but also Match supermarkets.
It is one of the essential ingredients for making a small carbonara or even a tartiflette. But as temperatures continue to slowly cool, this is news that may make you think about your meat consumption.
The site Rappel Conso, which lists the recalled products presenting a health risk, echoes a national recall of smoked bacon, sold by Carrefour and Match supermarkets. More precisely, it is about the 200g monocoque tray from Simpl, Carrefour’s first prize brand.
The GTIN, the numbers you can read under the barcode, is: 3560070536641. The recalled products concern lot 7393052, with a use-by date of January 2, 2026. They were marketed between the 24th and 31st October 2025.
Presence of salmonella
The cause of such a recall? There presence of salmonella, bacteria responsible for salmonellosis.
“Foodborne illnesses caused by salmonella result in gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea, vomiting) sudden onset often accompanied by fever and headache, which generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated products”, explains Rappel Conso.
These symptoms may be more pronounced in young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised individuals and the elderly.
Indeed, among these latter categories of people, the infection can be very severe or even fatal, remember l’Pasteur Institute. People who have consumed contaminated products and who present symptoms must consult their doctor and clearly indicate this consumption.
Cooking at over 65°C
“In the absence of symptoms within seven days after consuming the products concerned, there is no need to worry”, reassures Rappel Conso.
If the product must be cooked before consumption: cooking the products thoroughly (hard-boiled eggs, pastries, poultry meat…) at +65°C helps destroy these bacteria and prevent the consequences of such contamination.
Customers are advised to stop consuming the product and return it to the point of sale, if possible, or even destroy it if necessary. A number has been made available: 0805 908 070 (non-premium rate call, operational Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm). The recall procedure ends on November 21.
