The prefecture of police has issued very strict rules in a press release published Wednesday 8th July 2020, about the July 14th festivities in Paris and especially the public.
Each year, the immediate and distant surroundings of the Eiffel Tower are crowded with spectators for the July 14th fireworks. But not in 2020: the prefecture of police and the town hall of Paris announced measures to prevent crowds.
“Large exclusion zone” to prohibit any public
Despite the end of the state of health emergency, the ban on the gathering of more than 5,000 people will still apply on July 14th. For the National Bastille Day festivities, coronavirus version, a specific device will be set up:
Anne Hidalgo and Didier Lallement decided to adapt this event to exceptional circumstances with specific organizational arrangements. The fireworks will take place but the public cannot be welcomed within a large perimeter around the Eiffel Tower.
Concretely, “a large exclusion zone will be set up around the site to ensure fire safety,” explains the police headquarters. The Champ de Mars will also be affected, with a closed-door concert for this 2020 edition.
For the Champ de Mars, access will be limited from 11 a.m. For the Trocadéro and the Pont d’Iéna, it will be from 4 p.m.
From 7 pm, the sector “from the Grenelle bridge to the Alma bridge, including the Champ de Mars and the Trocadéro, will be strictly forbidden to the public. Many metro stations will be closed.
