Los Angeles has confirmed an agreement with the IOC to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2028. Paris is assured to organize the Olympic Games 2024. The French capital will host the Summer Olympics for the first time in 100 years! Los Angeles would host the 2028 Summer Olympics for the third time in its history after 1932 and 1984.
Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games as the city of Los Angeles, and the Bid Committee, confirmed an agreement with the IOC to organize the 2028 Olympic Games, confirmed to AFP by a municipal official, which opens the way for the Olympics in Paris in 2024.
The agreement was made possible by the unusual decision of the IOC to simultaneously assign two editions of the Games in July, saying that the two candidates were good in contexts where they are scarce. This would be the third time the Californian metropolis organizes the Summer Games after 1984 and 1932. Paris has organized those from 1900 and 1924.
The right partnership at the right time for the right city!

The details of the agreement were not known. An announcement of the International Olympic Committee was expected later Monday and mayor of the City of Angels could also communicate. Paris has always refused to consider an application for 2028, estimating that his project was not calibrated for 2024, especially because of the difficulty of securing four more years where land should be constructed on the missing buildings and infrastructure to host the games.
Los Angeles had not completely closed the door on this possibility, softening its position over time after stating that the city was ready to host the Games “tomorrow if necessary”. Last week, it felt it would be “stupid” to refuse the date of 2028 in terms of financial compensation by the IOC.
