British pop star Elton John has cancelled concerts scheduled in the US in April and May after a “threatening” bacterial infection that he is currently recovering from at his home in the UK.
The artist of 70 years old spent two nights in intensive care on his return in early April for a tour in South America, said on Tuesday by his communications agency Murray Chalmers in a statement.
He fell “gravely ill” during the flight between Santiago, capital of Chile, and London on the 10th April and was hospitalized on arrival directly “to a rare and potentially fatal bacterial infection” .
Elton John, who has sold over 250 million albums worldwide, has left the hospital on 22nd April and has been based at his home near Windsor, west of London.
Quick recovery according to doctors
Doctors believe he will recover quickly and he can make his comeback on the 3rd June in London. But meanwhile, the concerts planned in the United States in Las Vegas and Bakersfield, had to be canceled.
Elton John has “apologized” in a statement to “disappoint” her “incredible fans and faithful” and paid tribute to the medical team that “if well taken care” of him.
Having long fought against drug addiction and eating disorders, Elton John became the father of two sons and married his longtime partner David Furnish after the legalization of gay marriage in 2014 in England.
