Gunshots were fired on Thursday night on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. Police were targeted by gunfire around 9pm. A policeman was killed and two others wounded, said the Interior Ministry. A tourist was also slightly injured.
The assailant was “shot in response”, the ministry said. A judicial source confirmed the death of the assailant. The police department said that the circumstances of the attack were “not determined” .
The terrorism prosecutor to investigate
The anti-terrorist section of the Paris prosecutor is ready to investigate. The attack also was claimed by the Islamic State (or Daech) through its propaganda agency.
