Miami F1 2026: Race Results, Highlights & Full Weekend Recap

The 2026 Miami Grand Prix weekend transformed the Hard Rock Stadium complex into a high-octane epicenter of speed, glamour, and tactical brilliance. From the neon-lit Sprint on Saturday to a masterful Main Grand Prix on Sunday, the weekend solidified new rivalries and underscored the dominance of the season’s rising stars.

🏎️ Saturday Sprint: McLaren Strikes Back

The weekend began with a statement of intent from the reigning World Champion, Lando Norris. After securing the first non-Mercedes pole position of the 2026 season, Norris delivered a flawless performance in the 19-lap Sprint. He converted his pole position into an immediate lead, controlling the pace from the start to finish.

Behind him, McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri fended off relentless pressure from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc to secure a historic 1-2 finish for the Woking-based squad—the second year in a row they have achieved this feat in a Miami Sprint. Meanwhile, championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli suffered a difficult start, dropping from P2 to P4, eventually finishing P6 after a track limits violation demoted him further down the order.

🌴 The Main Event: Antonelli’s Masterclass

Sunday’s Grand Prix was a showcase of resilience and raw pace from Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Despite starting on pole, the young Italian locked up at Turn 1, allowing Charles Leclerc to seize the early lead. The opening laps were defined by chaos; a heavy collision between Liam Lawson and Pierre Gasly—which left Gasly’s Alpine flipped upside down—triggered a mid-race Safety Car.

As the race settled, a strategic battle emerged. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who had spun early in the race, attempted an aggressive recovery on hard tires but eventually faded as his rubber reached its limit. Antonelli, managing gearbox concerns and immense pressure from a surging Lando Norris, reclaimed the lead after the pit stop window.

In the final laps, drama unfolded behind the leaders. Charles Leclerc, who had held a podium position for most of the race, spun on the 57th lap, allowing Oscar Piastri to snatch P3. George Russell and a recovering Verstappen also capitalized on Leclerc’s mistake, pushing the Monegasque down to 6th.
