Presented for the first time last May, the new electric scooter from Ather made its international debut on the digital scene of CES 2021.
In view of the health crisis, the organizers of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) had to adapt this year. No physical event in Las Vegas but a digital formula that allows manufacturers to present their latest innovations. Apart from the heavyweights of the sector, the Indian startup Ather stands out with a new electric scooter.
Classified in the category of electric 125, the Ather 450X is presented as the fastest electric two-wheeler in its class. Presented as an evolved version of the Ather 450, the machine hosts a 6 kW electric motor. If its maximum speed, limited to 80 km / h, is not exceptional, its acceleration performance is much more interesting. With a 0 to 40 km / h achieved in 3.3 seconds, the Ather 450X accelerates much harder than a thermal equivalent.
Based on lithium-ion technology, the battery accumulates 2.9 kWh of capacity and provides 116 km of range on a single charge.
Both 4G and Bluetooth compatible, Ather’s electric scooter has a 7-inch touch screen. Equipped with GPS functions, it also allows you to control your phone or access the various diagnostic systems of the machine.
An electric scooter at a low price
For the moment limited to the Indian market alone, the Ather 450X is offered at a price starting from 159,000 INR, or less than 2,000 €.
If the manufacturer does not specify its international ambitions, its presence at CES in Las Vegas confirms the manufacturer’s desire to go well beyond its national market.
