New front, cockpit more functional and new Diesel turbo, the Renault Master gives itself every chance to remain a leader in its niche. Starting from 26 000 € HT
A youthful look for the Master, whose front end is in harmony with the common visual identity of Renault’s utility range. The redesigned grille becomes more upright, the hood line is enhanced and the light signature adopts the C shape.
For its part, the interior uses more qualitative materials and the dashboard has been redesigned with ample storage and integration of the navigation screen in the central part. A new shelf above the glove box deploys with the touch of a finger, providing either work space or lunchtime. There is also an induction smartphone charger and powerful connected multimedia solutions.
To optimize the loading area, a new LED light is located in front of the sliding door (or both) and at the rear in the middle of the roof.
The king of tailor-made
With nearly 350 versions available, 3 heights and 4 lengths, the Master adapt to the needs of professionals by offering a wide variety of body types: van, 7-seater deep cabin, tipper, tray, large volume …
Existing in traction (favoring payload and road transport) and in propulsion with possibly twin wheels at the rear (for heavier loads and adapting to any type of terrain), the Master has a very wide range of versions with maximum permissible masses of 2.8 to 4.5 tonnes and a working volume of 8 to 22 m3.
As standard, the customer is entitled to a number of driving aids. The options make it possible to equip it like a high-end sedan with, for example, the assistant for monitoring rear vision on a screen at the top of the windshield.
A more powerful 2.3-litre diesel
The Master is equipped with a new range of engines consisting of a 2.3 litre diesel engine in three different powered versions meeting the standards Euro 6d-temp / Euro 6d. A 110 hp and 130 hp single turbo respectively giving 285 Nm and 310 Nm at 1,250 rpm, and a 180 hp Twin Turbo that can provide 400 Nm and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 12 ”. They can be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed robotic gearbox. Note that in propulsion version, the Master retains the former 4 cylinders 2.3 litres longitudinal from 110 to 170 hp.
Finally, the Master also offers an electric version, the ZE, 76 hp with a range of 120 km, suitable for deliveries of the last mile in city centres.
Comfortable in traction, manly in propulsion
On board, the Master appreciates the comfort of the seats and the excellent vision of the dashboard. It behaves very well on the road, especially at mid-load absorbing the speed bumps in particular and without making too much noise.
The performance of the 180 ch traction is more than enough, the robotized box is appreciable only in the city and you have to adapt to a very low gear.
It is a little different with a Master propulsion whose conduct is more like a truck, which is logical given its vocation. Noisier, harder in suspension, it requires more attention and its rough box is quite short (25, 50, 70 and 90 km / h on the first reports) allowing to move everywhere without effort in maximum load.
