Yellow Vests, nearly 1800 convictions since start of movement

Since mid-November and the beginning of the movement of yellow vests, 1796 sentences were pronounced by the justice announced Tuesday the Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.

The justice has pronounced nearly 1,800 convictions since the beginning of the yellow vests movement in mid-November, which has been enamelled several times of violence, announced Tuesday (February 12th) Edouard Philippe in front of the National Assembly.

On the 7th January, the prime minister reported “a thousand” convictions.

“Since the beginning of these events, 1,796 sentences have been handed down by the courts and 1,422 people are still awaiting trial, ” the head of the government told the government. He was answering a question from the leader of MoDem deputies, Patrick Mignola, on the reestablishment of the republican order.

In addition “more than 1,300 immediate appearances were organised and 316 people were placed under arrest warrant,” he reported.

13 indicted for the degradations of the Arc de Triomphe

Edouard Philippe recalled that 13 people had been indicted for the damage committed around and inside the Arc de Triomphe on 1 December , and that five others had been indicted for the fire on the same day of the Prefecture of Haute-Loire, Puy-en-Velay.

After the taking of motorcyclists by yellow jackets December 22nd on the Champs-Elysees, he said that a person was arrested on December 31st, charged and placed in custody on January 3rd.

The Prime Minister has called, “beyond the sanction”, “the whole country to express his indignation at the questioning of places that symbolise our Republic and our democracy” and “to say his indignation at the stakes involved in the security forces (…) who provide security.

He sentenced Saturday’s fire to a Sentinel anti-terrorist mission vehicle .

Who can say that this act is in any way the expression of a social claim? In nothing. It is a serious attack on those we are. She is reprehensible.
