Rudy Molard is the first French leader of the Tour of Spain since 2011

At the end of the fifth stage, Rudy Molard (Groupama-FDJ) took on the red jersey of the Tour of Spain, becoming the first French leader of the Vuelta since 2011.

Rudy Molard (Groupama FDJ) donned the red jersey of the Tour of Spain , becoming the first French leader of the Vuelta since 2011, after the 5th stage, won on the 29th August, 2018 in Roquetas de Mar by Australian Simon Clarke (EFD).

French first leader of the Vuelta since Chavanel seven years ago in 2011, Molard, 6th place, 8 sec Clarke , now leads 1 min 01 sec in the overall standings Michal Kwiatkowski Polish (Sky), previous carrier red tunic, now in second place.

Clarke finished on the line with his last two companions on a long break, Dutchman Bauke Mollema (Trek) and Italian Alessandro De Marchi (BMC).

Molard, 28th 3 min 46 sec from fifth place, fought between Granada and Roquetas de Mar 188.7 km, preceded 4 min 45 sec on the line in which the pack Kwiatkowski included.

The French, 28, winner of the 6th stage of Paris-Nice this season, is playing for the 3rd time the Vuelta he had taken the 30th spot in 2016.
