Frankly, it would have been almost a miracle if there wasn’t a crash today and someone fall. The peloton of the Tour de France having to deal with dreadful weather this Sunday at the second stage between Düsseldorf and Liege . In treacherous conditions, this was bound to happen, and at 30 kilometers from the finish. A massive fall at the entrance to a roundabout, caused by a rider of Katusha placed in third position, brought down a large amount of riders from the peloton, causing chaos and injuries.

Among the main men in general classification who were involved and hit the road, were Christopher Froome and Romain Bardet. The two leaders were assisted by teammates and returned to the main group a few kilometers away. More fear than harm in the end, as stated by the AG2R rider on arrival.

He then made better with the arrival of Liege, and Marcel Kittel took the opportunity to clinch the first sprint of this Tour. The French rider Arnaud Démare took second place.
