Meteo France placed three northern departments of France on Orange alert for strong winds on Thursday. Gusts of over 100 km/h are expected. More details on the forecasts of the day.
Orange alert for the Somme, Pas-de-Calais and Somme this Thursday. “The circulation of a depression over the British Isles will cause a gale on the North Pas-de-Calais and the west of the Somme from the late morning of Thursday. The southwest wind will thus become stronger to reach into the interior 90 to 110 km / h gusts ” explains Météo France in its bulletin.
Forecasters indicate that the bursts will be more pronounced on “the exposed side of the Pas-de-Calais where they will be between 100 and 120 km/h”. In the North, only the regions “from Lille to the coast will be affected”, while in the Somme, “the coast and the northern border” will be among the most affected areas. Wind gusts will be between 70 and 90 km/h.
The warning should be lifted in the late afternoon
The situation should calm down in the evening. So that the orange alert should be lifted by 4pm. Meanwhile, Meteo France recommends the inhabitants of departments to restrict their movements outside and prevents damage that could affect distribution of electricity and telephone networks.
