2017 will be the year for long weekends in France with six long weekends of three days spread over different months.
In 2017, the public holidays calendar will allow the French to develop six long weekends throughout the year.
Unlike 2016, the 1st and 8th May will not fall on a Sunday but Monday this year. The same for Christmas. Another great weekend is possible: that of the 14th July, as the National Day will be celebrated on Friday. These cases are in addition to the traditional Easter Monday and Whit thus bringing the total of three day long weekends to 6.
Conversely, the calendar also has two holiday dates that fall during a weekend. This is 1st January (Sunday) and November 11th (Saturday).
In 2016, three holidays were Sundays (1st and May 8th, 25 December), while only five long weekends had been made possible by public holidays falling on a Friday or a Monday.
