Armel Le Cléac’h (Banque Populaire) continues to widen the gap in the Vendée Globe, after 36 days of racing. At 9 am on Tuesday, Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss) now is 183 miles behind. 3rd, Paul Meilhat (SMA) completes the podium 1386 miles behind.

After starting to cover part of the gap on the leader, Alex Thomson must again concede much ground on Armel Le Cléac’h who leads the Vendée Globe. After 36 days of racing at 9am, the Finistère skipper is 183 miles ahead of the Welshman. The “Jackal” has never been better name, knocking out the competition. Paul Meilhat in still in 3rd position 1386 miles behind the leader.

Sunday night, it was believed that two maneuvers to avoid the depression over the south of New Zealand would cost him much. It did nothing.

Paul Meilhat on SMA completes the podium, lying currently in 3rd position. This is followed by Beyou. these are the only four skippers of the fleet who have made it out of the Indian Ocean.
